A missing number beats a made-up one.
Margin is shown only for loads whose every cost document is on file. A load still waiting on an invoice says what it's waiting for, and stays out of every total.
How Penny² keeps your data valid
Penny² doesn't estimate. A figure appears only when the documents prove it — and seventeen checks stand between your paperwork and the number you read, from the moment a file arrives to the moment it reaches a board pack.
Performance · July
Margin $92.4K — up 21% on last month.
Complete enough to read: 204 of 208 loads have every cost document on file (98%).
One to look at: $197 of charges paid but not billed on.

Every total, margin and balance is calculated by plain, tested rules. Where AI writes a sentence, every number in it must match the figures, or it isn't shown.
03
A missing credit or an unbilled charge is a finding for your team to confirm, with the documents behind it — never a savings number we ask you to take on trust.
A number has to pass every gate on the way. If it can't, Penny² says what's missing instead of guessing — and nothing about it is counted until it can.
GATE 1
Is this a file we should count at all?
GATE 2
Did we read it the way it was written?
GATE 3
Is the number complete and counted once?
GATE 4
Does the outside world agree?
GATE 5
Is it safe to put in front of the board?
When a check fires
From a distributor's first months on Penny². The first time seven months were charted side by side, one state stood out. Here's what happened next.
Margin per gallon in one state was around 25¢ for three months, then about 7¢ from April. A person caught it then; today the swing check (13) flags a move like that on its own.
The older invoice layout printed the state fuel tax as “STATE GAS”. It had been filed as a fee — and a fee billed to a customer counts as margin.
The reader learned the wording, with a test so it can't come back. A dry run listed exactly which lines would change before anything was re-filed.
The corrections log (17) shows every affected month before and after, with the reason. The label check (6) now catches this kind of error the day a file loads.
Questions owners ask
You can take them knowing exactly how complete they are. Every page says how many loads are fully documented, labels a month Provisional until it's complete enough, and keeps a record when a past month changes.
No. AI helps read documents that arrive in unusual layouts, and its reading accuracy is measured every week. Every figure is then calculated by plain rules that are tested before each release.
The load is shown as incomplete, with what's missing and who to ask. It stays out of every total until the document arrives — Penny² never fills the gap with an estimate.
Late invoices and fixes do change past months. When they do, Penny² records the change with its before, after and reason, so a number you've already shared never changes silently.
Each check has automated tests that run before every release. When a new kind of error turns up, the fix ships with a test for it and a dry run of every line it touches.
No. Penny² flags findings with the documents behind them. Your team confirms them; we never present a finding as money saved until it's confirmed.
